On the final day of the preliminary round the Vikings caught a rough start – falling behind 0-3 in the first half. Bad Nauheim played agressively and got used to the small rink better than the Vikings – all three goals coming from poor position play, leaving a player open in front of the net.
The Vikings put on a better game in the second half, making it a one-goal-game with 10 minutes left. But they would never even the score, as the Devils capitalized on two more opportunities and the Vikings’ third goal was not enough.
The second game against Frankfurt would have determined the first place but was interrupted after a few scoreless minutes due to heavy rain. The game will be resumed next Saturday in Frankfurt.
